Aiyanoor Ammanoor Festival

  • Aiyanur Ammanur is a festival celebrated by the Kota tribe of the Nilgiris.
  • During this festival, this tribe collects mud for making pottery. The pot-making ceremony is held once in two years.
  • After the earthen pot is made, they open their temple and then prepare food in this earthen pot and serve it to the whole village.
  • After prayers are over in the temple, the men and women dance separately during the day and night wearing their traditional clothes.
