  • Blood Falls is a red river flowing from the Taylor Glacier in Antarctica.
  • It is located in the McMurdo Dry Valleys region of Antarctica, which is considered one of the coldest and least habitable places in the world.
  • It was first discovered by geologist Griffith Taylor in the year 1911. According to them, the red algae living in the water were responsible for its red colour.
  • According to the latest research, its unique colour is due to iron salts leaching from the snow, which turns red when it comes in contact with oxygen.
