The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) have launched the mascot 'Prakriti' and Green Initiatives for 'awareness on effective plastic waste management'.
These include the following green initiatives-
National Dashboard on Elimination of Single Use Plastics and Plastic Waste Management
Expanded Manufacturer Responsibility (EPR) Portal for Plastic Packaging
Mobile App for Single Use Plastic Grievance Redressal
Monitoring module for SUP
Industrial production of graphene from waste plastic
This will increase awareness among people about small changes related to nature which can be adopted in a sustainable way in lifestyle to improve the environment.
It is noteworthy that in February 2022, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change had also announced the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2022.
