A hyper local method called 'TamiraSES' is being used for the rejuvenation of the Thamirabarani river in Tamil Nadu. It is a district level initiative aimed at restoring the social ecosystem of Tamiraparani river bank.
It focuses on enabling the conditions for local biodiversity to flourish and for local stakeholders to maintain and enhance many ecosystem services.
In the first phase of the project, five socio-ecological observatories will be set up which will act as a pilot project for learning.
This will help in rejuvenating the Thamirabarani river as well as all the water bodies in Tirunelveli district.
