Upgradation of Dhanush Guns

  • Gun Carriage Factory (GCF) is manufacturing 40 Dhanush guns for the Army in the year 2024.
    • Recently, its first phase internal testing was done, which was successful.
  • This modern version of the guns is completely based on indigenous technology.
    • All the parts except the barrel are made in GCF.
    • Its barrels have been taken from the Kanpur factory.
  • These guns can strike up to 39 to 42 km.
  • There is a plan to deploy them in the snowy border areas.
  • GCF has been manufacturing Dhanush guns for the Army since 2010.
