Moldova Joins International Solar Alliance

Why in News ?

• Moldova has recently joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA), becoming its 107th member.
• This announcement was made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after Moldovan Ambassador Ana Taban handed over the Instrument of Ratification in New Delhi.
• Moldova’s membership is expected to give fresh momentum to global cooperation in solar energy.

What is the International Solar Alliance (ISA) ?

• The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a global coalition launched by India and France in 2015 during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) held in Paris.
• Its aim is to promote the use of solar energy and develop clean, affordable, and reliable energy systems.
• ISA Secretariat is located in Gurugram, Haryana, India.
