  • On the occasion of National Teachers' Day, President Draupadi Murmu will present the National Teachers' Awards 2024 to 82 selected awardees.
  • The aim of the National Teachers' Awards is to honour teachers who have improved the quality of education and enriched the lives of students.

  • National Teachers' Day is celebrated every year on 5 September in the country on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
  • This day is celebrated to honor the contribution of teachers.
  • National Teachers' Day was first celebrated in the year 1962

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

  • Born - 5 September 1888 in Madras Presidency (in Tamil Nadu)
  • He was the first Vice President and second President of India
  • He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in the year 1954
  • He was also awarded the British Royal Order of Merit (1963).
  • Death - 17 April 1975
