Delhi government increases cash awards for athletes:
Olympic and Paralympic Games medal winners will now get big honors and rewards:
Gold medalist:₹7 crore (earlier ₹3 crore)
Silver medalist:₹5 crore (earlier ₹2 crore)
Bronze medalist: ₹3 crore (earlier ₹1 crore)
Now players winning gold or silver medals in Olympics and Paralympics will be directly eligible for 'Grade-A' government posts.
Cash prizes for Asian and Para Asian Games:
Gold medal:₹3 crore
Silver medal:₹2 crore
Bronze medal:₹1 crore
Objective:
To provide financial support to the players.
To motivate the youth to make a career in sports.
To honour the players representing Delhi and India at the international level.
