Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has soft launched Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) in Hyderabad. This is a limited (soft) launch aimed at improving customer experience. The service will be commercially launched across the country after field feedback.
With this, BSNL has become the first Indian operator to offer certified indigenous 5G and SIM-less.
About 5G Fixed Wireless Access
What is it:Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (Q-5G FWA) is India's first SIM-less and fully indigenous 5G broadband service launched in Hyderabad.
It provides fiber-like high-speed internet through 5G radio waves without the need for fiber cables or SIM cards.
Implementation: It uses Direct-to-Device (D2D) technology wherein Customer Premises Equipment (CPI) provides internet connection with auto-authentication which is a plug-and-play setup.
Technology:The service is based on 100% indigenous technology including Core Network, Radio Access Network and CPE developed by Indian vendors like TCS, Tejas Networks, C-DOT and ITI.
It has no foreign components. It uses spectrum in 700 MHz and 3.3 GHz bands.
High Performance: Download speed up to 980 Mbps, upload speed up to 140 Mbps and latency less than 10 milliseconds.
