Campaign to make model village in Ayodhya

Why in News?

Recently, a campaign has started to make 1147 villages of Ayodhya district into model villages.

Key points:

• It was launched from Mahan Mau village of Tarun block of Ayodhya district.
• A total of 1,147 (spread over 772 gram panchayats) have been included in it.
• Main objectives:
  • Connectivity of villages with main roads
  • Freedom from open defecation (Swachhta Abhiyan)
  • Waste management (waste disposal and recycling)
  • Benefit of the project: Improvement in rural development and basic amenities

About model village:

• A model village is a village that is developed on the standards of infrastructure, cleanliness, health, education, environmental protection and sustainable development.
