• Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and founding patron of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Shibu Soren, passed away at the age of 81.
• He had been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
• His son and current Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, announced the news of his death on social media, referring to him as “Guru Dishom” and expressed his deep emotions.

Shibu Soren – A Living Symbol of Struggle

• Born: January 11, 1944, in Nemra village, Ramgarh district, Jharkhand (then Bihar)
• Popularly Known As: Guruji
• Political Party: Co-founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)
• Served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand three times
• Also held the post of Union Minister for Coal
• One of the most prominent leaders in Indian politics for tribal rights and Jharkhand statehood movement

A Life of Struggles and Movements

• Shibu Soren’s life was dedicated to protecting tribal rights and leading local land rights movements.
• In the 1970s, he launched a mass movement against land-grabbing moneylenders and non-tribal encroachers.
• In 1973, he founded the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
• Played a central role in the creation of Jharkhand as a separate state.
